2009 Golden Globes: Red Carpet Review

The 2009 Golden Globe Awards premiered on NBC last night, and marks the first official night of red carpets, and red carpet reviews! I always liked the overall ambiance of the Golden Globes. The glamour, the Moet, the Voss water (although Voss isn't the premier water of choice anymore). Less formal than the Oscar's but I still feel as if the Golden Globes are the most glamourous of awards. The fashion this year was superb, with the exception of a few which will be identified shortly. The trends from the night were sand toned dresses, mermaid silhouettes, and belts for the ladies, and long neckties for the gents.

The Good

Olivia Wilde - My Best Dressed Female! The actress from "House" knows how to get our of her scrubs and dress up for an awards event.

Cameron Diaz - The color is awesome on Cameron. The back detail of this Chanel dress was superb and her eyes really popped against the color.

Sandra Bullock - Going with the light tone trend of the night, Sandra pulled off this look very well. I never associate fashion with Miss Congenality, so I had to give her a shout out this time.

Rumor Willis - Rumor is becoming quite the stylista these days, and this belted dress looked stunning on Bruce and Demi's little girl.

Leonardo DiCaprio - Leo wore a pinstriped tuxedo. I want it! This was definitely my favorite outfit of the night. Something different, yet still formal. Kate Winslet looks great as well.

Eva Mendez - She always looks great, and this dress has a mix of old hollywood with modern trend. To me, she is someone that naturally has style, even if she didn't have a stylist to help her.

Diddy - One of the few gents to go with a bow tie, Sean Combs decided on a traditional formal tuxedo, utilizing the necessary tuxedo hardware for the night.

Beyonce's Ring - Its hers... not rented like most of the jewelry worn last night.

The Bad

Micky Rourke - He kind of dresses like he talks... hard to understand. He did win last night for Best Actor, so he is doing something right... its just not style

Marissa Tomei - She and Mickey co-starred in The Wrestler, and they both co-star in "The Worst Dressed" as well. The Pirate sleeves? In 2009? She looks like a throwback Salt -N Pepa Video.. I think Marissa had a flashback from her Different World days... This may have worked for a magazine spread, for an editorial shot or something, but not on a red carpet, even if that red carpet were for the MTV VMA's.

Heidi Klum - Are you serious? This is the Golden Globes, not the Vicky Secret post show... the dress is not appropriate and those shoes don't beloing anywhere but in the bedroom with Seal.

Colin Farrell - The plaid vest. The dirty gooky hair. He just didn't look as dapper as one should for the Golden Globes

The Not-so-sure

J. Lo - First off, this was indeed the Sexiest dress out there... Its not ugly at all and the only reason I have her here is because I'm not sure if its appropriate for the Golden Globes. It's kind of J. Lo circa Diddy when she wore the turqouise printed Versace Dress back in the day. We've kinda seen it already.

Susan Sarandon - Again, ladies should wear a dress for the Globes, but this suit is pretty fly. Despite the shoes, I think Susan looks really good in this, but its just not for the Globes.

The Mad Men Cast - They all just looked like they were going to Prom. Disappointed, especially since their show is all about old hollywood.
