Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2012

A man's love of women and sports can somehow find a place in Givenchy's Spring 2012 Couture Collection.  Riccardo Tisci created an eerie, true-to-brand display of  twisted beauty with crocodile skin, missed with the darkness and purity of black and white.  Facial jewelry is a trend throughout the couture and menswear collections for Givenchy, and nose rings and dark lips donned the heads of both sexes.  The irony in the single basketball in one of three rooms brought a contrast in color and skin type; if nothing else, to bring a smile to anyone viewing the collection.

Armani Prive Spring 2012 Couture Collection

Couture generally has the expectations of serious, elegant displays of craftsmanship, but it's a fashion enthusiast's dream when the artistic, atelier construction can be effortlessly matched with a sexy, fun attitude.  The electrifying presentation of the Armani Prive Spring 2012 Couture Collection presented the perfect marriage between sex and sophistication.  The colors were bright and bold; the prints were alluring and mysterious, and the reptile print was adventurous and primal.  The shades of green; bright and eye-catching hues, were the most stand-out, pulling together a reflective, iridescent theme when paired with the metallics and runway effects.

Chanel Spring 2012 Couture Collection

At first glance, its no question that the Chanel Spring 2012 Couture Collection is yet an edgy, alternative view of the traditional Chanel woman.  Each look appeared to be a twisted take on a Chanel classic; the over-sized collars and front pocket skirts are all expectantly unexpected.  The fitted, pleasantly plain Chanel silhouette was suddenly pumped up with texture and crystals, adding dimension and character to the overall presentation.

This season looks most like a collection that Karl Lagerfiled created to reflect what he could wear if he were to dress up in Chanel Haute Couture; you can't miss the parallel of the floor length jackets and black-on-black palettes with Lagerfield's signature personal aesthetic.

Kenzo Men's Fall 2012 Collection

Kenzo, making its menswear debut from designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, sprinted from the blocks in a burst of colors, prints, and an overall fresh take on classic men's fashion. Mixing suits with sneakers, and pairing basic pleated slacks with bold prints in contrasting fabrics added an effortless element of styling that befits the name Ready-to-Wear. Hakaan Spring 2012 Collection

Only in Paris can a collection saturated with revealing, sexy looks can still hold a chic appearance.  Designer Hakaan Yildirim gave us a sexy, dangerous, unabashed woman that could care less about where she is - day or night - as long as she is the center of attention.  Keeping a steady palette of white and black, with only a few additions of color, Hakkan revealed the female body with the use of geometric patterns and lace fabrics.  The looks, though risque, can easily become more wearable with a simple tank, or perhaps a bra; but when its runway, its totally amazing.

David Koma Spring 2012 Collection

  

David Koma's Spring 2012 collection was a reflection of the fine craft of cutting.  From the sheer detailing to the symmetrical shapes, Koma showcased his appreciation for the almight scissor.  The collection was geometric, tribal, and futuristic in nature; a true Koma aesthetic.  While the inspiration was “Aboriginal culture, femininity and lines,” you could also draw a space-age interpretation of the collection, as the last looks very Star Trek vs. Star Wars; the tribal print could go for either Darth Vader, or an ancient aboriginal mask.  In any event, Koma's collection leaves room for your imagination.

Rebecca Taylor Spring 2012 Collection

Rebecca Taylor presented a light, airy, flirtatious, collection for Spring 2012.  Using her signature aesthetic of flowy fabrics and floral prints, Taylor used sheer and asymmetrical cuts to add dimension and edge to her classic looks.  Metallics and lighter spring tones kept the collection seasonally appropriate, with the option of pairing it with a denim or suede jacket for the autumn weather.
