Derek Lam Launches Line on eBay
Derek Lam launched an amazing collection in February debuting his collaboration with eBay during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. At the launch, a fifteen piece collection was presented, giving the audience a chance to vote on their top looks which would be available for purchase on the new eBay iPhone App later this year. Well, "later" has come, and the top five looks are now revealed and available for purchase!
“eBay created an incredibly unique opportunity to have a direct dialogue with shoppers around the world—and the community interest in helping influence the DEREK LAM + eBay collection has been phenomenal,” said Derek Lam. “My work is about functionality with the romance of fashion – these winning dresses represent essential styles that are effortless, yet playful. I’m excited to surprise shoppers with the Tee Shirt Dress to complete this assortment of classic silhouettes for the spring/summer season.”
The Tee Shirt dress was indeed a surprise from what we saw at his collection in February, but I think that ladies will find fun, sexy ways to wear the look.
The collection includes the surprise Tee Shirt Dress and the top Five dresses from the February Show for a price range of $125-$225, and in sizes 0-16. Like the looks? Buy them on the new ebay iPhone App! Yes, another innovative step for the marriage of technology and fashion, and I am sure eBay and Derek Lam will have more in store for us in the future!

QTips: iPad 2 Cover Style Guide
While the iPad 2 was released last week, the long lines and supply shortages means that many of you will be heading to stores this week to get your hands on the newest gadget by the Apple innovators. The iPad 2 may boast your savvy in the tech realm, but what about increasing your style score with a functional, yet fashion forward cover? I did some research and came up with a list of the top iPad 2 covers available for purchase.
--------------- Quentin's Choice --------------------------------------------------------------
We will start with my editor's pick, the iPad 2 sleeve by Byrd & Belle. These sleeves are all handmade in Minneapolis and are made of one of my favorite fabrics; wool felt. Adding the leather detail makes this a sleeve that can be used in the winter or summer, by men or women. This would be paired perfectly with the FW 2011 Collection by Woolrich.
If you order one, be sure to tell them you saw it on AvenueSwank.com!
Byrd & Belle iPad Sleeve - $49
This modern and simple sleeve is made of 1/8" thick felted wool offering great protection for your reader. Snug fit and simple closure with a hand-dyed leather strap that is riveted on the back and snaps in the front. Snap and rivet locations are lined to keep your reader from touching anything but soft, thick wool felt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to add some bling to your iPad 2, and want to stand out every time you use your device to check out Avenue Swank, check out the CrystalRoc covers, made of Swarovski crystals.
CrystalRoc - $850 (599 Euros)
Our fully crystallized iPAD Cover give you the most eyes-catching glamour & prestige.
Each of these Covers are decorated with Swarovski crystals in the most pristine way
Hand-made in London with more than 1000 pieces of the best quality Swarovski’s Xilion Cut crystals
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are in a rush, and want a cover right away, then pick up one of these functional and stylish covers by Apple. These are made specifically for the iPad 2, and will be a great match to your iPad, at a reasonable price.
Apple Smart Cover - $39-69 (for leather)
So much more than a case, the Smart Cover was designed alongside iPad 2 to be its perfect match: a thin, durable cover that magnetically aligns for a perfect fit. It automatically wakes and sleeps your iPad. It’s a handy stand for reading, watching, and typing. Its microfiber lining keeps your iPad screen clean.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rugged, yet clean, the Temple iPad 2 Smart Case is a perfect choice for a more masculine cover. Made of WW2 canvas, gents can spark a few good conversations just by the fabric alone.
Temple iPad 2 Smart Case - $149
The iPad 2 Smart Case is crafted out of re-purposed WWII canvas and features 100% oiled saddle leather details, 1/8" foam padding, khaki twill lining and magnetic closures. A small brass eyelet allows the brand new HD camera on the ipad 2 to capture photos and video.

Swank Gadget: Hex iPod Nano Watch Case

I saw this on High Snobiety and thought I would share it on the Ave. This new acessory by Hex is a case for the 6th generation iPod Nano. Coming in a series of colorways, the Hex iPod Nano case has a Nooka vibe to it. Its a cool idea, especially since most of us use our phones, or iPods to check the time.. this way, you can use it for music and as a watch legitimately!

Prada Phone by LG

LG announced that they will release their second designer phone by Prada. The new touchscreen mobile device will have a full QWERTY keypad and a 5 megapixel camera. The list price is 500 Euros, which equates to nearly $1000, so if you have a G to spend and you don't care that we are in an economic crisis, then go get yourself a Prada phone! This is a waste of money, but it wouldn't be the Ave if I didn't at least show it to you.

Blackberry Storm Officially Announced by Verizon

Verizon, and its European/Latin American/Asian counterpart Vodafone announced its exclusive releases of the new RIM Blackberry Storm. The new Blackberry will be the first of RIM's devices with touchscreen capability. This is the first time I actually looked at images of the Storm, and I am a bit cautious about the Storm. I initially thought that the screen would be touchscreen, but that the Storm would still have the popular and highly regarding easy-to-use QWERTY keyboard as the previous Blackberries.... But the Storm will be a full touchscreen in which the keypad similar to that of the iPhone and Instinct. This worries alot of the critics as well because most companies and businessmen who rely on email to conduct business aren't normally fans of full touchscreens. RIM claims that their keypad will function the same as their original keyboards, but time will tell.
No official word on the release date, but expect to see it later this fall...
