Italian Vogue All Black Issue

I was in DC this weekend, and after going to my friend's wedding, I stopped by the Border's on 14th Street to see if they had any copies of the July Issue (excuse me, the First ever Reprint) of Vogue Italia. First off, thanks Chico (or Matthew.. you need to let me know which alias to use on the Ave) for giving me the heads up on Borders having copies of the Reprints.

Yes the issue has been out for a while, and most blogs and site have already discussed the Magazine, but I didn't want to give my take on it until I actually had one (or in my case, three) in my possession.

I have to say that while I am very excited to have the magazine, as it is a part of history, I am disappointed in what they labeled "The Black Issue." Out of the 200+ pages, only about 50 pages had Black models. As you have already heard, most of the campaign ads are non-Black women. You have basically seen all of the major photo spreads on the Ave, so there wasn't much else to look at, especially since I can't read Italian.

If you have $16, I still encourage you to buy it, just to say you have one. It's still the talk of the town, and you will seem cultured or "in the know" if you have one.
