Michelle Obama Fashion: Day 3 of Democratic National Convention

Just as busy and ever-changing as her schedule is, so is Michelle Obama's outfits. Michelle O had a busy day, having to represent her husband at a variety of events in Denver, so lets take a look at what she had on at each event.

Michelle helped to kick off the DNC's Delegate Service Day, held in Curtis Park in Denver. Here, Michelle helped to make care packages for Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. She picked the right outfit for the right occasion. If you're working hard doing volunteer work, stick to jeans and a T-Shirt, or in her case, cropped pants.. since she is so tall, she can pull this off (yes, cropped pants are out for women under 5'5"). I still would have liked to see her in some heels, but flats work for this type of job.

Here, Michelle is addressing the Black Caucus in a sleeveless dress, with some very interesting detailing. I don't think I can say anything amazing about the dress... Its a bit on the cheap sale rack side for me, but its still along the lines of a "classic" look. A bit too matronly for what she represents. She (or her stylist) seems to love the idea of having some sort of brooch or flower at her cleavage area.. I on the other hand don't.

Here is Michelle at the DNC during the Obama acclamation, Clinton Speech, and acceptance of VP by Joe Biden. While watching live footage, I really liked this dress on Michelle. The dress, complimented by her stance and the movement of her hair, was very stunning on live TV. The flowers around the neckline are a bit distracting, but I still love the outfit. I'm sure some of you have mixed feelings, but leave comments and tell me what you think about this outfit, and her others for Day 3.

  1. I find Michelle Obama's wardrobe to be very tacky and inappropriate. One would guess with the ensemble that she was going to a glitzy tropical party... not a serious political event. She is supposed to be a sophisticate 40+ professional, not a college freshman going to her first cocktail party. How are we supposed to take her seriously with all of her embellishments.

PS- I find it very distasteful to dress young girls in spaghetti straps and/or black. Her daughter is 10, not 18. This woman wants her family to represent the United States. Let's have her do it with class and taste.

  3. She could have spent $300,000 on her outfit like Cindy McCain - would that have been better?

  4. how do you know she didn't? All of her clothes are custom made by a designer. If that isn't elitist - what is?

  5. Let's be clear about Cindy's McCain's outfit -the cost was totally speculative which Vanity Fair acknowledges. Most of the cost was for jewelry which no one has verified is even real. The actual dress itself was not $300,000 as is being portrayed. Any way why isn't anyone doing the same for the other women? Michelle Obama and Hilary Clinton both have most of their clothing custom made for them. No one seems to be pointing that out. Such hypocrisy.

  6. Outfits that are custom made but coming from people who don't get ads in million dollar magazines or featured in world wide fashion shows. That is the difference! The point that should be pointed out is that if someone is going to speculate or label someone as "elitist" then it would be fitting to think that they would not turn around and wear DESIGNER" outfits in that price range. Either way, your comments are pointless. Despite what you say, you don't like her, your republican or racist, and nothing she can do or say is going to change the fact that you are NOT going to vote for her husband. END of DISCUSSION!

  7. Wrong. You have no idea how I'm going to vote. I'm neither Republican nor raciest, but I am anti-hypocrisy. Let's look through the same lens at everyone instead of looking through one lens for the people you support and another for the people you don't. Clearly you are unable to be objective, hence the personal attacks on a post to an individual you do not know.

  8. Why is it that people pay so much attention to what women in politics are wearing? With the exception of McCain's shoes, I don't hear or read about what guys are wearing: "Did you see that tie?" or "He wearing a $10,000 suit" or ...

Come on. Let's pay attention to the substance of these women (or lack thereof) and get off the women as Barbie mentality.
