What About the Blue Gate!?!

All I hear about on CNN is how the folks from the Purple gate were denied access into the swearing in ceremony. The "Tunnel of Doom" Well what about those who were denied that same access at the Blue Gate? As far as the eye could see, there were individuals with Blue tickets that left with those same Blue tickets and had no view of the capitol and left with a piece of paper with Blue outlines, and false since of hope.

There was one girl standing behind me who, though rightfully so, complained to someone on her cell phone about how disappointed she was in the logistics of the event. I have to agree. There was no crowd control at all for the Blue gate.. in fact, the area wasn't even fenced off! When I got closer to the gate, I realized that I could have walked along the grass and through the trees and would have been at the very same spot. Ridiculous! No volunteers or security walking around saying "this is the blue gate! you must have tickets!" or even a simple "the gate is broken, turn around" NOTHING. We had nothing to go by! And, it brought alot of tension and negativity to that area, that I didn't even feel the positive energy that I'm sure those on the Mall possessed. And they didn't even have a ticket! Instead, a riot was about to break out, as some people were discussing how they could knock the gates over, and as the people began to chant "Let Us In!"

The Congressional Inauguration Committee disclosed a statement regarding those in the Blue and Purple ticket areas, expressing how they plan to investigate the root cause, and would take this as a lesson learned. I think we want more than a lesson learned! You expected 4 million people, yet you under staff your security. You also expect 4 million people, and print tickets that could EASILY be reproduced by anyone that can mapquest a Kinko's... I know people who purchased Yellow tickets off of EBAY last week... How is this possible if the tickets weren't available until a few days ago? Again, the power of printing. All you needed was a color printer, and a seal stamp and that's it. It wasn't as if the volunteers checking tickets had some method of detecting fraudulent tickets. A complete mess!

Now, they was to give the Purple ticket holders a free ticket to tour the Capitol... When all they have to do is contact their Senator or Congressman to get a free ticket to tour the Capitol anyway. So what type of compensation is this?

And again, why is all the focus on the Purple ticket holders??? The Blues got the Blues too! What about us?

I can't say that I am too disappointed for my own experience, because I was able to watch the Inauguration of the first Black President, in the office of my Uncle, the first Black Congressman of New Jersey. How ironic and historic is that connection? The heat and the champagne toast was a nice added perk as well. But this is not about me.. this about those who came from near and far to attend this historic event, and due to a process fluke... and logistical nightmare... and an organized confusion, were not able to even be amongst the movement of Hope.

So Blue ticket holders, I feel your pain, and I am on twitter right now defending you all! I'm even on CNN pushing our story! YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE!
