This trend was seen first at the Golden Globes when America Fuerra wore a tan dress with a black lace overlay. I wasn't a fan of the way she executed that look, but I do like the way it looks on both Kate Winslet and Queen Latifah. Since they both are wearing darker colors, it makes the black look more reasonable and realistic.

The pale colored dresses also flooded the Red Carpet with both Taraji P Henson and Penelope Cruz, both nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Congrats to Penelope Cruz for winning the Oscar, and for winning this look.

You can't do Oscars without jeweled dresses, as seen here with Miley Cyrus and Sarah Jessica Parker. What I like about both looks is that they both let the dress do the talking... they didn't over accessorize with big necklaces and earrings.

Photos: ZimbioThere were some awesome architectural dresses worn by Jessica Biel, Heidi Klum and Marissa Tomei. I am so glad that Marissa Tomei got it right finally! It took her three attempts this Red Carpet season, but this dress is beautiful on her.
