Trends from the Tents: Color, Trim, and Military

There was a definite focus on the following trends this season in New York; from color to trim, the top designers incorporated trends that trascend Fall/Winter 2010 into a classic look for anyone's closet. Keep your eyes on shearling; it will be a necessity for your outerwear next season.

Aubergine - Aubergine, is definitely one of the "IT" colors for Fall/Winter 2010. A deep purple, it can also appear to be brown or even charcoal grey from afar.

Military - From vintage military hats to the structure of military jackets and trousers, many designers paid tribute to the timeless trend on the runway. The trend was mostly seen among women's collections, giving the military look a more feminine feel.

Shearling - Shearling is the perfect answer for warmth and detail, using the wool as a lining and a piping detail. Narcisco Rodriguez went against the grain and used a black shearling which actually added illusion against the black coat and wool dress.
