Shear Trend: British Fashion Awards 2010

The 2010 British Fashion Awards was held Tuesday night in London's Savoy Hotel, boasting the who's who of British Fashion. With honorees such as Laura Stone, Naomi Campbell, and British designer of the year, Celine's Pheobe Philo.

One of the hottest trends in red carpet/evening fashion has to be any and everything shear. It gives appropriate length, but adds a sex appeal that only skin can give. There were a few looks on the red carpet of the awards last night that definitely hit the trend on the nose

Singer V.V . Brown (and her sponge roller bang) took a simple approach to the trend, wearing a knee length lace embroidered dress with shear lace sleeves. Not as elegant as the others listed, but the dress fit the songbird's personality.

Daisy Lowe also too the shear lace approach, but transformed it into a more elegant gown. This dress looks expensive, and is red carpet appropriate.


Of course, Naomi Campbell perfected the shear look, mixing chic with sex appeal. This is the true way that the shear look should be done; beginning above the knee and continuing down the length of the dress. Ladies, if you are looking for the perfect New Years look, take notes from Ms. Campbell!
