THISDAY, one of Africa's leading daily newspapers, hosts its 3rd Annual "Africa Rise" Music and Fashion Festival this Friday, August 1, 2008. This festival, developed by Nigerian media mogul Nduka Obaigbena, who has featured such music and fashion names as Alicia Keys, Diddy, Naomi Campbell and Alek Wek, has been successful in Africa, and this year it will make its U.S. Debut in Washington, D.C. at the Kennedy Center.
This year's headliners feature Seal, John Legend, and Beyonce's boo Jay-Z! Tyson Beckford, Alek Wek, and Ethiopian Activist and Italian Vogue Covergirl Liya Kebede will also be headlining the only North American stop on this tour.
"Africa Rise" is not just a festival to showcase Music and Fashion. It is also a means of providing insight and conscieousness of the positive aspects of Africa's social and economic development.
I will be there, so I'll give you a play-by-play in true Avenue fashion!!
