2008 AMA's - Style

The 2008 American Music Awards premiered on Sunday night and was jammed packed with performances and girl power! Big winners were Alicia Keys and Rihanna, and both Mariah Carey and Anne Lennox won awards honoring their lifetime achievement in music. The AMA's unlike the Grammy's, are a time when musicians and celebs can lay down the truly formal attire and show their trendy, yet chic style. The theme for the ladies was definitely silver with lots of studs and lace. The fellas were dapper in casualwear mixed with a shirt and tie. Normally, the guys don't have much to mess up on since you simply need to throw on some nice pants, shirt, jacket and not be wrinkled, but my worst dressed were all men! Let's take a look:

The Best:

Rihanna - This 20 year old beauty oozes style! Some blogs hate her, but I think they are just getting tired of her coming out of nowhere with sick outfits. Yall know I am a huge glove lover.. so those cream gloves of hers get her 2 photos posted!

Candice Cane - I don't know too much about her, but I do know that she is wearing one of the hottest colors of this season, and wearing it well!

The Jonas Brothers - They understand the craft of wearing fitted, tailored clothes without it looking too feminine. My favorite is the double breasted Brooks Brothers suit worn by the youngest Jonas (like the Wu-tang Clan, I can't tell which Jonas is which)

Pink - Funky, fresh, edgy, classic.

Chris Brown - The jacket and the shoes make the outfit, but I like that he decided to keep it simple and casual, but still look expensive and neat. This is definitely a look that any guy could get for cheap and still look as if he went shopping on the RNC dime.

Beyonce's Guitarist - I couldn't find a pic, but she had on some of the SICKEST dunks I have ever seen! Good dunks will put you on my Best list any day.

The Bad:

T-Pain and The Dream - You must be hugging because you both went to some whack clothing store to put together these outfits.. I haven't seen a shirt like Dream's since 2003.

Jamie Foxx - Those boots. Nuff said.

The "Could Have Done Better":

Neyo - Its not ugly, but I have seen this time and time again from Neyo.. in fact, I think he has worn this exact outfit before.. The very fact that I even think this means that he needs to reinvent himself and find another idea when it comes to suits.

Colbie - I like that the dress is made frmo fresh flowers, but did she ever watch Project Runway? While its a cool idea, it does nothing for her figure and she looks as if someone put cardboard around her and pasted pinata paper on it.

Christina Aguilera - I like the dress, and it definitely kept with the studded/lace/silver theme, but that hair... How many of you all thought the same thing when she came on the screen.. "Those Bangs are horrible!"


Alicia Keys - The dress is great, and I still have plans to marry her one day, but the dress looks like it has stains on the bottom, and I wasn't feeling that big diamond on her forehead. Is she still with Crucial??? Hmmm.
