First, I needed to take care of some loose ends of my day job (NEVER quit your day job), and then I needed to head over to the Convention Center to pick up my media credentials from the Presidential Inaugural Committee. This was my first time receiving these credentials, so it felt pretty cool being able to go into the "press access only" sections of the building.
My meeting with the City Club of Washington was cancelled, so I had some free time to meet up with my sister and grab dinner. I absolutely love Busboy and Poets, a trendy restaurant named in honor of poet Langston Hughes, who worked as a busboy at the Hotel. Their food is delicious, and fairly health conscious with a large selection of vegan and organic dishes. Who needs that though.. I got the catfish that comes with collard greens and a corn cake (or johnny cake, or whatever else you want to call it). The restaurant particulary caught my eye tonight when I walked to the door and saw this portrait of Barack Obama on the glass. I need to find this picture and frame it!
Let me also note that it is about 15 degrees here in the DC area, and these three young ladies had the nerve to be wearing black and white SUMMER DRESSES with spaghetti straps... and I don't even recall seeing any type of jacket with them. Ridiculous..
After dinner, we went to Dick's sporting good to, you guessed it, see if they had hand warmers... THEY WERE OUT OF THEM AS WELL!! What does a man have to do to find these hand warmers! And why am I dying for these like never before?? I never even thought about using these until now! That shows the power of television and marketing...
