Inauguration 2009: Day 2 (Jan 17)

My day routine was fairly simple today... prepare for tonigh't festivities. Despite trying yet again to find Hand Warmers (and being unsuccessul at finding them), my day went rather smoothly.. Kinko's, Best Buy, and Bed... in some form of that order.

Tonight was the Virginia Black Caucus 44/44 Grassroots Pre-Inaugural Gala hosted by Tim Reid (or WKRP and Sister Sister fame) and Daphne Maxwell Reid (2nd Aunt Viv on the Fresh Prince). Elected officials, such as Congressman Robert C. Scott (Bobby) and newly elected Senator Mark Warner (he WILL be President someday) were also in attendance.

The wardrobe selections at this particular gala were, in some cases, rather "interesting" for a formal affair. While some opted for long gowns, others went for a modern formal dress of knee length. Some even went as far as wearing something that should be on a Red Carpet.. the only ting is, there was no Red Carpet, and if there was, many of these individuals wuold not be on the best dressed list. For example, there was this young lady with a leopard print gown... Thats not all folks... It had a Train that was also leopard print, and there were these black circles that were dangling from the back as if the leopard had scabs before becoming this lady's dress (no worries PETA, it was actually some form of chaffon fabric).

The most interesting piece of fashion I saw was this Barack Obama purse. Say what you want, but I thought it was really cool AND it was a conversation starter.. I mean this weekend is all about Obama right?
