MET Costume Gala - Red Carpet Rundown

The most edgy, haute red carpet of the year has to be the "The Model : Embodying Fashion" Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, 2009 in New York City. This is where you really get a glimpse on who has a true eye for style, or who plays it safe just so they won't make any of the lists for worst dressed. Its easy to wear a nice gown for the Golden Globes, but can you pull off a couture piece off the runways of the latest collection? Its also a good testimony to the fact that name brand isn't always the best, nor does it always translate well off the runway. We will see this in the next few pictures (Madonna and Leighton in Louis Vuitton)

Hits - Here are some pieces that I thought looked great on the red carpet, and the ladies wearing them don't look too bad either.

Hot Couples - Just like last year with Iman and David Bowie, the hot couples of last night wore vibrant reds and black.

Misses - The attempt to capture the audience and get a wow factor is there, but for all the wrong reasons. Rihanna looks like Adam Lambert from American Idol, and those tights and shoes on Jessica Alba look like something a teenager would wear if she were trying to "find herself"

Name Brand isn't always Best - Here we have Leighton Meister and Madonna, both in Louis Vuitton, and both looking like a runway done wrong! Leave outfits like this for the runway, because they do not translate outside of the runway!

Someone needs to show the adoption agency this picture... the Malawi Government shouldn't let children come to people who think they are Rabbit Fashionistas!
