I went to the Superlounge to see Janelle Monae perform during the essence Music festival. It was a wonderful experience to say the least.. this girl is a beast! Full of energy, and one of the sickest voices I have ever heard! True creative beast!
The lights went out at one point, and within seconds, she jumped on top of a stool and began singing Smile..
I couldn't believe how beautiful she sounded. Unfortunately, I couldn't get video coverage, but I just had to share a video clip of her singing "Smile" that I found on Youtube. The best part of the performance during Essence was that she dedicated it to the memory of Michael Jackson. I never knew this was his favorite song, but apparently it was pretty common knowledge to the music world and other MJ fans. Please listen and enjoy!
