Review: Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2011

Dark elegance, tribal artistry, and pure craftsmanship describe the new collection by Bibhu Mohapatra. Inspired by Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" and the old world's black magic rituals, the highly anticipated collection featured a tug of war of good vs. evil with the use of bold prints, textured fabrics, and sleek body fitting gowns. Savage vs. sophisticated was evident in Mohahaptra's collection, as elegant dresses and gowns were completed with leathers, feathers, and goat hair. The beautiful blue prints used in the collection was an abstract image of a raven, which brings its own assumptions of evil. Though darkness ruled, the collection still boasts a level of glamour and elegance that could afford them to be seen on the Red Carpet. Only talent can create art in design where darkness doesn't translate into depression.

See the video below for a live viewing of the collection, showcasing the details of this extraordinary collection.
