Review: Hardy Amies Fall 2011

To find truth in the idea that men still dress like men, focus your attention on the Hardy Amies Autumn 2011 Collection.  Different from the layered, carefree looks of most menswear collections, Hardy Amies keeps the existence of the debonair man real and current.  Inspired by the 1920's and Ella Fitzgerald, designer Claire Malcolm created a modern take on an era of Men's fashion that is truly emulated by the most stylish of gentlemen.  From luxurious casual coats to formal tuxedos and dinner jackets, the collection gives men the chance to tackle any dresscode.  Each look had a modern twist to break away from the monotonous tone that comes with dressing in this form of attire.  Mixing turtlenecks with tuxedos, and adding bright bold cardigans to a simple, clean trouser adds the regal effect to each look; a fitting homage to Sir Hardy Amies' legacy of expert tailoring and royal artistry.

Show Review: David Koma Fall 2011

Want to be Anna from V when you grow up?  Take a look at the Fall 2011 Collection by David Koma to get inspired.  Circles and cutouts in geometric shapes provided an amphibious, alien feel to the looks.  When asked to describe his inspiration in Koma said “Dark forests, Tim Burton and hallucinations.”  His inspiration gets rather literal in his face printed dresses with colorful fur puffs and the signature circle details; all indications of a distorted vision.  Whether the looks give you inspiration or disturbia, one can't argue the sleek fit and sexy silhouette that each look presents; very "Morena Baccarin."

Review: Issa London Fall 2011 Fashion Show

Many may have recently become familiar with Issa London from the growing popularity of Kate Middleton, but the boldnesss and detailing of the Fall 2011 Collection prove that the brand goes beyond the future royal figure.  Inspired by another royal figure, the Dutchess of Windsor, the collection was vibrant, modern and feminine.  From the silhouettes to the styling, Issa created a wearable collection that featured looks for all occasions.  The signature jersey dress with rouching detail, and flowy printed pants and jumpers are perfect for pairing with luxurious hats, indicative of the young socialites of London's elite.

Review: Sass & Bide Fall 2011 Collection

The Fall 2011 Collection by Sass & Bide was fun, flirty, and full of prints! This is a breath of fresh air from the dark, heavy fabrics used in most collections. The Aussie duo used tribal prints, and flowly fabrics to create an airy, regal collection that can be worn by women of all ages.  The collection is wearable, sexy, and youthful; any woman would want this combination.  The colors in the collection created such a bold palette; warm oranges, pinks, and browns create an Autumnal color scheme that could even be worn on summer nights. 

Review: Bora Aksu Fall 2011 Collection

Edwardian men's tailoring and Wanda Wulz photographs was the inspiration of the Fall 2011 Collection by Bora Aksu.  Using bow ties, suit lapels mixed with skirts, and strong fabrics and knits, Aksu created a unique collection that catches the eye of any sartorial genius.  The heaviness of the knits and the whimsical flow of the dresses gave a very new-age view on Romanticism.

This is seen with my favorite look, the cable knit dress, which can be worn in so many different ways.  This piece is can be transformed from day to night (or hip to chic) with changing flat boots to a pair of heels.
