Lifestyle Communications, sponsored in part by HBO, hosted the Ohonored bama: That One! Inaugural Celebration on Sunday at the ultra swank Newseum. The star studded event, celebrating the victory of President Elect Obama, also honored other citizens who have given major contributions to society throughout the year. The event was hosted by Omar Edwards and Wendell Pierce, and the honorees were as follows:
Hill Harper: Actor, Author, Activist and Founder of Manifest Your Destiny, a non-profit youth organization dedicated to empowering, encouraging and inspiring undeserved youth to succeed.
John Rhea: Corporate Executive/Not-for-Profit Executive, and a member of President Elect Obama's national Finance Committee.
Beverly Bond: DJ, and Founder of Black Girls Rock - a mentoring outreach program targeting "at-risk" teenage women of color.
Senator Roland Burris: Newly appointed to the U.S. Senate. Also served as Illinois Atty.General from 199-1995.
Kimatni Rawlins: President and Publisher, Automotive Rhythms Communications, an multi-media and marketing portal that beidges the gap between automotive companies and untapped urban consumers.
The event featured dining samples from Wolfgang Puck, and featured music entertainment by DJ Beverly Bond. This had to be one of the best muscial sets I have heard in an extremely long time. I am such a huge fan of music from the 90's era, especially at events like this!
Here are some pictures from the event, Enjoy!
