Norma Kamali - The Democratization of Fashion

If anybody out there knows me, you know that Techonlogy and Fashion is definitely my mix. With a Day job as a IT Professional, and my All Day gift as a Fashion Guru and Fresh to Death Specimen, I love anything that combines the two. Cutting edge designer Norma Kamali had her presentation at the Soho Apple Store in which she presented her newest collection and the technical evolution of her brand.

The Democratization of Fashion, having immediate access to fashion information at any price to everyone around the world instantly, was Kamali's theme in which her brand uses iPhone technology, EBay, and Wal-Mart to make her clothing affordable and accessible.

Here is a breakdown of the new features of Norma Kamali:

Norma Kamali iPhone Application - yes, there's an App for that too! With this new app, you can get more information and even shop the new collection.

Normakamalicollection.com - Use this site to "try before you buy" and skype with the Kamali team

Normakamalibay.com - Skip the counterfit sellers on eBay and go directly to the official eBay site for the brand. All prices are under $250!

Norma Kamali for Wal-Mart - Target isn't the only family store with Designer Lines! Use the Roiworld Fashion Closet Game to see all the looks, with a direct link to walmart.com.

Shout out to the Kamali Models for withstanding the cold and rain outside for at least an hour! Some in bathing suits! I'm glad they all weren't modeling iPhones...

Maria Pinto Spring 2010 Collection

Elements in opposition, bound together in balanced asymmetry, make up Maria Pinto's Spring 2010 Collection. Set in the Banchet Florist in the Meatpacking District, the ambiance, craftsmenship, and warm heart of the designer really elevated the level of class of this Installation.

Each piece was cleverly made, such beautiful illusions of texture. The imagery of panneling and vertical lines were present throughout the collection. The styling of each model was perfect for a modern take of a sexy Argentine night. Even the accessories were top notch; I love how the jade ring works so well with the beaded Carmen skirt. Each accessory gave the just right amount of pop to each piece, giving it a flirty, edgy accent.

My Favorite Looks from the Collection:

Carmen Skirt -The detail in this dress is bananas! Crystal embedded, with Peony organza and Clematis ebroidery

Gardel Dress - This beautiful piece is made with a ultra soft, lightweight leather that could survive any Spring Day or Evening. The concept of sharp vertical lines are seen in this piece as well. The color of the Mud Ricoletta Leather is so intriguing that it was the first look caught my eye as I walked into Banchet.

Zuma Trench - Sensual, sleek, structured and Chic! This piece truly demonstrated Maria's influence from the Argentine Tango.

When speaking of Maria Pinto, you have to mention her works with Michelle Obama, and there were quite a few looks within Pinto's new collection that would be perfect for our First Lady. I think Michelle-O would look awesome in the Gardel Dress!

The collection had a look for every aspect of a woman. From the fun, flirty girl on the town, to the First Lady of the United States, any woman would want to wear the new collection.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week - G-Star Spring 2010

The Hammerstein Ballroom was full of energy again this season for another G-Star Show! This was my first time attending a G-Star Show (and my first time standing in the jungle we all know as the media pit), and the production was amazing! The designs were no too bad either - I'm a denim freak so I found it very intriguing on G-Star's play with denim and their innovative ways of incorporating denim in each look.

My Favorite look was the NY Raw Majorette Jacket - Cropped perfrectly for the chilly Spring nights.
I also really liked the Correct Classic Suit Jacket - Very simple, and the fit was perfect! Matching it with a pair of chinos was the perfect option

Q-Tips: Trends from the Tents: Day 6 - Cutouts

Rodarte Spring 2010 Collection (Photo by Style)

Ladies- get out your razors and scissors, and get creative! Today's biggest trend from the Runways of Bryant Park and throughout the city was the Cutout. From slits alongside gowns to meshed backs, skin was being shown very creatively, and most importantly, with taste. The max Azria Collection boasted this trend the most today (Shout out to Max who is truly defining what S/S 2010 will be). Yesterday, the Cutout trend was seen throughout the Kai Milla Collection, along with the primal collection from Rodarte which also hit heavy with exposing the woman's skin with edge and class.

She by Sheree Spring 2010 Collection

I'm Checkin' Sheree Now! - Checkin' her Collection Anyway ;-) - Pics from my small digital camera...

"A Fashion Show with No Fashions" was not the case for Sheree this time. The Real Housewife of Atlanta showed her Fashionista alter-ego today at the Red Bull Space for Fashion Week.

I was pleased to see that the collection appeared to have a sense of concept within its designs. However, I think that she could have done more analysis with the trends for S/S 2010, maybe by adding some floral patterns or even more beading and shoulder detail. One thing she did have going for her was cohesiveness; the collection actually went together and worked well when standing side-by-side. The construction on some of the pieces were a bit questionable, but all in all the collection was wearable, sensible, and an overall good effort by Sheree.

The collection is made for the everyday woman who wants to look good on a night out, and I hope that Sheree understands her market. I'm not sure if its Saks or Neiman Marcus ready, but it is definitely ready to be worn by the modern woman (or at least her slim fans). If the yellow piece was a bit longer, I think any girl would love to wear it.

Sidenote: I also heard that she was giving out T-Shirts that said "Who Gon' Check Me Boo" -- Sheree's people, please send me one! If I can't wear it, I will most definitely frame it!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week - BCBG Max Azria S/S 2010

If you want to know exactly what Spring 2010 has to offer, then direct your attention to the Spring 2010 BCBG Collection. The colors, patterns and fabrics show true evidence of what ladies should be wearing for the warmer seasons. Since BCBG was shown on Day 1, Max Azria definitely set the tone for what the hottest trends will be for next season. The collection is fun, wearable, and full of subtle detailing that makes a plain look ultra chic.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week - Chado Ralph Rucci S/S 2010

Tailored Art - that is truly the best way to describe the collection by the Genius himself, Ralph Rucci. The entire production took my breath away; from the ramps to the ridiculous models that he can only cast, this show was remarkable. It was so difficult to narrow down my favorite looks, but I listed a few.. Please notice how tastefully tailored each piece is.. it fits each model perfectly! I will have to post a video soon - this is a must have!
