Duran Duran Releases "Girl Panic!" Short Film
The 80's takes you back to when real models, were the main attraction of music videos; from the colorful days of George Michael's "Freedom" to Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistable" and "Addicted to Love." Duran Duran, a band known from this era, is bringing the sound, and the beauty back with their new music video for "Girl Panic!" The video features a team of supermodels that have kicked - or possibly thrown a phone at - the limitation of age in the face with their timeless beauty. Naomi Campbell, Helena Christiansen, Cindy Crawford, Yasmin Le Bon (Yes, Simon Le Bon's wife!), and Eva Herzigova play to 80's band, and transforms the music video into an uber chic editorial campaign for the band. Though Yasmin is married to the Duran Druan front runner, there was no way she would get that role with Naomi Campbell on set. Instead, Yasmin plays the part of an unknown guitarist, who is likely the part of Dom Brown who is an unofficial member of the band. The rest of the cast, playing the part of Nick Rhodes (Herzigova), Johon Taylor (Crawford) and Roger Taylor (Christensen) add the attitude - and sometimes the accent- to complete the ensemble.
Check out the new video below! Its guaranteed to inspired your style, and anti-aging regiment.

Kate Moss on Cover of Vogue September Issue
Kate Moss, dressed in Alexander McQueen and shot by Mario Testino, grace the cover of Vogue's September 2011 issue. I find it interesting that the caption calls her wedding the "most romantic wedding of the year" when I would think that nearly everyone would have to give that title to Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge William and Kate. I'm looking forward to reading the article to see what sets her wedding apart from all the others in 2011.

Daria: A Big Model Name this Season
Daria Werbowy, Feragamo F.W. 2011-12 Daria Werbowy, Setfanel F.W. 2011-12
Remember the monotoned, dowdy, awkward, Daria from MTV? If one were to judge all people of that namesake by the show, they would never imagine that two of the busiest models this season have the same first name. Daria Werbowy and Daria Strokous have been booked heavily this season for the newest magazine covers and Fall 2011 Campaigns.

For all of my Canadian friends celebrating Canada Day, here is one of the Ave's favorite models who Canada blessed the fashion world with. Anja Rubik and Coco Rocha Show How to be Cool in Genie Pants
Coco Rocha in The Sunday Telegraph Spring/Summer 2011
Anja Rubik in Vogue Australia, May 2011 Issue
It looks like Genie Pants are hot for the new season - at least according to Vogue Australia and The Sunday Telegraph...
Both publications feature the Arabian-esque garment in their latest issues, draped over top models Anja Rubik and Coco Rocha. Anja in a more heavy, textured look and Coco in a sheer, flowy pair. While the pants are different, the pose is essentially the same.. Do you have to stand like this and hold your hand in your mouth in order to pull this look off? Which one do you like better? Coco or Anja?

Black History in Fashion: Donyale Luna
When asked who was the first Black supermodel, many names may come to mind, but one name is to never be forgotten; Donyale Luna. Born in Detroit by the name name of Peggy Anne Freeman in 1945, Donyale electrified the fashion world, taking the European market by storm. She was known to wear a blond wig and colored contacts, and known to hardly ever wear shoes. She was the muse for Yves Saint Laurent and Paco Rabanne, and was a staple in many of Andy Warhol's productions.
Donyale was the FIRST Black to appear on the cover of any Vogue magazine production. Her cover was for the March 1966 British issue, and has to be one of the most iconic poses to date. Here are some photos of Luna that show her versatility, eccentricity, and beauty.

Naomi Campbell for i-D Magazine

Naomi Campbell is one of the three covergirls for the pre-fall issue of i-D Magazine. Not sure what "then now next" means; and I hope they don't think that Naomi is "then".. in fact, I think Naomi is the epitome of all three moments in time.

Naomi Campbell to Testify in War Crime Case

Supermodel Naomi Campbell may find herself back in court, but not for throwing phones at assistants. Campbell was asked by prosecutors to testify against Liberian President Charles Taylor in reference to his war crime accusations. There are allegations that Taylor gave Naomi a diamond ring during a dinner in South Africa - but of course it can't be that innocent; it is thought to be what we call a Blood Diamond (I can vividly imagine Naomi Campbell's walk to Kanye's "Diamonds" song). Campbell denied the request, and now prosecutors are seeking a court subpoena for Campbell's testimony.
Campbell was on Oprah a couple weeks ago and didn't confirm or deny the allegations of receiving a diamond from Taylor (leave it to Oprah - much like when she asked Naomi's boyfriend if he was still married).
Campbell is not personally facing any type of court sentence for this, but it is still not a positive turn for Campbell's life. She has really got to find a way out of the courtroom and keep it on the catwalk.
